Merchandise exports rose 16.04% to $12.31 billion in December 2007 from $10.61 billion a year ago. In rupee terms, exports growth during the month stood at 2.54%.
In the April-December period, exports grew 21.76% to $111 billion from $91.20 billion recorded in the year-ago period
Imports in December stood at 17.68 billion, a rise of 18.06%, as against $14.97 billion in December 2006.
In the April-December period, imports increased 26% to $168.87 billion when compared with $134 billion during the corresponding period in the previous year.
Imports of non-oil goods increased 15.34% to $11.71 billion in December as against $10.15 billion in December 2006. Oil imports moved up 23.78% to $5.96 billion from $4.81 billion in December 20
Trade deficit during the month under review stood at $5.36 billion as against $4.36 billion a year ago
In the April-December period, trade deficit was $57.82 billion as against $42.85 billion in the corresponding period of 2006.
