The various organizations working specifically for distressed women have urged the Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee to allocate an increased amount of fund towards the women upliftment schemes.
Women Power Connect (WPC) in a petition to Finance Minister said,“Last year's budget speech was a big disappointment as a large part of the budgetary allocations showed a decline in the over all funds earmarked for the ministry of women and child development (MWCD). This year we hope that there is a substantial increase in funds for women friendly schemes and programmes under the MWCD".Lack of funds with the women's rights groups is hindering the implementation of a number of schemes and programs.
